About Us

We're happy to introduce you to these awesome individuals who help bring Baldapalooza to the community year after year!

Lonni Leavitt-Barker is one of the founders of Baldapalooza. Her son, Kean is the inspiration for our efforts. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at age 2 and finished treatment at age 6 (he had 1,157 days of Chemotherapy and more ups and downs with his health than Disney Imagineers could ever put into a theme park).

Watching her son go through so much suffering was agonizing. However, Lonni will be
the first to tell you how grateful she is for all the good they got out of something so brutal. From meeting and making friends with compassionate nurses, smart doctors and other brave families to having her family overwhelmed with love and service—cancer has changed her and her family forever.

Lonni and her husband also have three girls. She is currently a free-lance writer, editor
and media consultant. In her “previous life” Lonni was an Emmy award-winning television Investigative news reporter whose career took her from Las Vegas to Raleigh/Durham; Phoenix to CBS in Los Angeles. Lonni currently serves as the President of Baldapalooza.

Bill Dittrich

Bill Dittrich has lived in Boise since 2003. Born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, he then lived in Seattle for several years while earning his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Washington. He now works as a physician at St. Luke’s Hospital.

He and his wife, Mary, have three wonderfully
crazy children, Josh, Matt, and Maggie, who do their best to keep him on his toes. He learned about Baldapalooza after his son, Matt, was diagnosed with medulloblastoma at age 9, a brain tumor affecting mostly children. Now age 12, Matt is doing great, and teaches Bill every day about what’s really important in life. And how to use his iPhone.

worked as an institutional equity salesman for 6 years with Credit Suisse in New York and 6 years with Prudential Securities in Los Angeles and San Francisco. He has over 20 years of combined work experience in the financial services industry. Darby currently is a member of NAIFA and was recently awarded the Money
Makers award as a financial professional with the Idaho Business Review. He has a great passion for helping kids and through he and Amy’s recent involvement in the Baldapalooza event in 2015, has chosen to be even more involved.

His interest in Baldapalooza has also been driven by his experience
with cancer as both his mother and father recently were diagnosed and eventually survived cancer. This experience has helped him to recognize the difficulties that families deal with when cancer is involved. As a result, his efforts with this organization are done in an attempt to help make life easier for those children diagnosed with cancer and their family members that live through this with them.

Steve Keen

Steve

Steve Keen

Steve Keen is the SVP of Finance, CFO & Treasurer of IDACORP, Inc. and Idaho Power Company. Previously he was President of IDACORP Financial Services, a subsidiary focused primarily on tax-advantaged investments that provided affordable housing and preserved historic buildings across the U.S. Steve has been with his company for over 30 years, graduated from Idaho State University and is a CPA, licensed in the State of Idaho.

Steve is also the current Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Idaho Housing and Finance Association and a member of the board of directors of the Idaho Tax Foundation. Steve is married to Barb and has four kids, Isabella, Abby, Gabby and Riley.

Steve’s interest in serving on the Baldapalooza Board stems from recognizing the struggles of children who suffer from major health challenges. He has witnessed the impacts on the children, their families and those who love them. Steve’s youngest children are triplets and they were born prematurely. They faced their own life threatening health battles spending a month in NICU and basically starting life with difficulties.

Steve has since supported all of his children as they later became active in raising money for worthy causes. Their endeavor began as they used their musical talents to help raise money when a friend of his oldest daughter, Isabella, was diagnosed with cancer.

Since then, their band (called The Runaway Hamsters) has been supporting charitable efforts locally and nationally. The Runaway Hamsters have assisted such causes as the Miracle Network Hospitals, St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital (Boise), the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, the Idaho Diabetes Youth Program, the Idaho Foodbank and a stop-bullying campaign. They were also honored to have been the opening act for the 2015 Baldapalooza concert. Having faced their own challenges, Steve and his family want to help others in whatever struggles they face.

Jim Martin

Jim

Jim Martin is a shareholder with Moffatt Thomas Barrett Rock & Fields, Chtd. where he focuses on commercial and insurance litigation in the federal and state courts. He has practiced with that law firm for nearly 25 years. He has his undergraduate degree from Boise State University and his law degree from the University of Idaho. (Go Broncos!)

Jim is married to Julie and has three kids, Katie, Connor and Myla. Jim has always felt it is important to give back and has volunteered his time by being active in the community and in his profession. He has served on several boards and committees over the years.

He is currently president of the Boise Centennial Rotary Club, a club in which he is a Charter Member. He has been awarded the CASA Volunteer Attorney of the Year by the Family Advocate Program and has received other recognitions for his service. Jim’s interest in serving on the Baldapalooza Board is personal given that his son, Connor, at the age of 15 was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. As a result, Jim and his family got to see first-hand exactly what it’s like for the families whose children are given this incredible challenge.

Connor is in remission now and doing great, so it was a great time for Jim and his family to get involved in an organization that focuses on helping families when life throws them a difficult curve ball.
